Sponsor post: Jylare Ann Photography

I'm happy to welcome one of my favorite family photographers Jylare Ann Photography
back as a sponsor. I love the color and life that her photos capture.
In case you were wondering, here is a little more about Jylare:
Lucky for all of us that aren't in Orange County, Jylare has some trips planned for the summer.
She will be in Utah June 6-10 and in San Francisco August 2-6,
so if you're located in one of those areas, be sure to contact her for more information or to schedule a session.

Welcome Jylare!

Yalecrest House

You'll be seeing more of this home down the road but I didn't want to leave you hanging anymore. This home happens to be extra special because the client is also my photographer, Sara Bateman. If you are looking for a great family photographer in the Salt Lake area, be sure to check out her blog.

One thing you need to know about Sara is that she lives in a very traditional home, but she is very hip (yes she is a mother of four, but still very hip). As we were approaching this home we wanted to make sure that we incorporated pieces that gave the spaces just a little bit of a young and fun edge (which is where the awesome rug, fun fabrics, and imperial trellis wallpaper helped us out). Sara has a lot of family heirlooms and so the dining table and houndstooth channel back chair are items that have sentimental value and we gave them a new spin to modernize the look.

I don't like to giveaway my sources for client project,
but since I know I will get e-mails here are a few tidbits:

Wall paint: Basic Beige ICI paints
Footed bowl: Pottery Barn a few years ago
Rug: Surya, available for order through me
Pillows: Schumacher

Now I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

New Sponsor and Giveaway: Plum Street Prints

I am so happy to welcome Plum Street Prints as a new sponsor on this blog. They are a darling Etsy shop that sells printable art (they send the digital files when purchased and customers print at home or at their nearest print center); this saves a lot on printing and shipping fees! All of their patterns and prints are designed by the girls over at Plum Street Prints and they offer an affordable, modern, and classy way to spruce up any space! Here are two of my favorites:

They have also recently added custom iPhone cases {along with iPod touch cases and the soon-to-arrive iPad cases}.
Their phone cases are so darling I'm having a hard time choosing which one I want to buy! There are many more styles over in their Etsy shop so be sure to check them out.

There are several ways to enter the giveaway, and more than one entry will be accepted. Two winners will be chosen.

Studio 5

room design by me, image by Sara Bateman

Tune in tomorrow to check out my segment on using bold rugs for Studio 5.
You might just see some footage of this project too.

this just might be my favorite wallpaper

I've been on a wallpaper kick lately and I have to say there is nothing quite like a freshly wallpapered room.I can't stop thinking about this dining room that we wallpapered in Schumacher's Chenonceau wallpaper in charcoal.
Is this bananas or what?

Sponsor intro and giveaway: Out of the woods

I'll be introducing some new sponsors here on my blog this week, the first of which is Out of the Woods.

Sometimes a room just needs something that feels a little homespun and that is what I love about the designs of Mary Jane Smith. She is an artist who designs folk art on wood, burns the design and then paints it. Each design includes a quote, song or book title, or saying. Inspirational quotes are a favorite of hers and she loves creating plaques with whimsical themes. She does a lot of custom work and will create whatever theme and palette you would like. If there a favorite quote or saying that you or family would love to have permanently displayed in your home on a beautiful, personalized plaque contact Mary Jane for more information.

Mary Jane is offering one of three personal creations shown here:

All you have to do is go to her blog and become a follower and leave a comment here saying what you love about her work. Good luck!

a showstopper

Thanks to everyone who came to the sale. It was a great event and it felt so good to unload all that stuff. I saved some of the best items to list here on the blog so check back this week for a few wonderful items for sale. But now to the real treat.

I'd like to say that I spent the last few months laying low and snuggling my baby, but that is not entirely true. Part of the reason I haven't been blogging much lately is that I have been extremely busy with work projects, one of which I'd like to share with you today.

I'm currently working on a newly renovated house that I wish I was moving into myself. This renovation is impeccable all thanks to Tiek Built Homes. They are a dream to work with and they have fussed over many of the details of this home to get things just right. I have been so impressed with their attention to detail and commitment to quality which is definitely something you want when working with a contractor. If you're planning a renovation and you live in Utah, I highly recommend them. I'm already planning to use them for next renovation on my own home.

We're right in the middle of selecting all the furnishings for this gorgeous home but I couldn't wait to show you a few pictures (all photos by Miekel Reece):

Get excited. I'll be sharing more about the design plans for this home over the next few weeks.
It will be nothing short of spectacular. The fabrics and wallpaper alone will stop your heart.

You can also find more information about this renovation over on the Tiek Built Homes blog.
