Done and Done

I am happy to report that after a few late nights and lots of rearranging, my recent project with

Tiek Built Homes came together beautifully! Thank you to everyone who came to the open house.

It was so fun to meet many of my blog readers and show off this beautiful house. In fact we've

had a such a great response and so many requests that we are in the process of

planning a 2nd open house next week If you are interested in attending, stay tuned.

We just had the house photographed yesterday so I'll be sharing the

finished rooms here on the blog soon. Right now I need to go take a nap.

My Master Bedroom Breakdown

All the comments about my house and especially my sofa were so sweet.

As promised, here are the details about the master bedroom:

Wall Color is Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue

Headboard is custom but a similar one can be purchased here, budget version here.

Nightstands are a steal from WALMART of all places (They are really sturdy and surprisingly good quality for the price. I needed something with very specific dimensions and I knew I didn't want to spend a lot so this was the perfect solution for me)

Blanket and duvet from Target, channel stitch quilt HomeGoods, shams are Nautica

Mirror is from HomeGoods for only $19.99

Lamps are vintage. They were a steal at $30 a piece from one of my favorite consignment stores

Bench was a craigslist steal, I haven't decided if it is going to stay here yet.

Rug is from WS Home a few years back but you can buy an identical one here

I'm still waiting on the pillow fabrics so we'll save that info for another post.

I wasn't necessarily trying to do this room on such a budget but it just sort

of worked out that way, which I'm sure my husband was really happy with!

The screen really works for our room because it helps make the bed a focal point. We have another window in the room so although we lost some light by covering the window with the folding screen,

we still have natural light coming into the room, otherwise I would have never considered it.

As far as sources for folding screens, I'll pass along some ideas in a future post.

I'll be sure to share the finished room when I finally get the pillow fabrics.

My Master Bedroom Progress

A couple of months ago I posted the design plan for my master bedroom. I wish I could say the space was now complete but we still have a fews details to figure out. I am so excited to see this room coming together and thought you might like to see a little progress.

First we started out with this:

There are a few options for how to orient the bed in this room, but the room felt the most open with the bed against the far wall.

The only problem was we were dealing with that pesky window.

I contemplated a few options to deal with the window, but I finally settled on this amazing

vintage Japanese folding screen with cranes painted on it that I found at Elemente.

This added instant definition to the space and helped create a focal point in the room.

This screen has the most beautiful shimmer thanks to some mica paint.

After what has seemed like ages, my custom headboard (done by Rocky Mountain Upholstery, 801-651-9368)

got delivered this week and I have to say, I can't stop smiling every time I look at it!

My husband keeps asking me why we needed the folding screen and a headboard,

but I love the definition it adds and I really felt like we needed something substantial to ground the room.

What do you think?

Now I'm just waiting on the fabric for my throw pillows, figure out wall decor, and work on a few other little details.

These projects never end!

I'll be sure to post pictures when it all comes together but right now I'm just loving

kicking back against those beautiful diamond tufts!

And of course my new headboard has the added perk of getting me excited to make my bed in the morning!

My Master Bedrooom redo, Part I

Last week I showed you my lovely new fabric find with a promise that I would share the plans for my

master bedroom spruce up planned for the next month. Am I a nerd because I do inspiration boards for myself?

This space has been one of the least loved rooms in our whole house. Partly because, apart from sleeping

I don't spend much time there, and partly because I've been stuck with my concept for the space.

Well I finally decided what direction I am going after contemplating one

of the main pieces for a year, and now I am really excited.

I can't believe I am posting this picture on the internet, but in an effort to keep it real, here is what I've been living with since May:

I think part of the reason I've been stuck is that I've been dealing with some inherent issues in the room that have left me with tricky spots. This room is fairly small and although we have a big closet, there isn't much room for anything else besides the bed, nightstands, and a bench. There is also an oddly placed window that you can't see in the photograph that was causing some issues.

Because of the size of the room, I knew I wanted it to feel light and bright, hence the use of a lot of ivory and white as a backdrop for my fabrics. I'll be posting a breakdown of my inspiration board tomorrow with details on the items.
