I snagged an AMAZING faux bamboo dresser at the thrift store. 

Worked on the flower order for a wedding I'm helping with

Went on a lovely picnic at the park

Ate lots of popsicles

Looked at way too much tile

Scoured the internet for decent bathroom vanities

(any ideas, I'm empty handed on this one)

Read all of your e-mails about Eames style rockers (a few left, hurry)

Ordered one of these for a client. 

Loving this weather, hopefully it is warm where you are too.

I got lots of great feedback in the comments from my last giveaway, but 

what I heard most was that you want to see more of my great finds. 

Well darlings, your prayers have been answered. 

These are 2 of my latest and greatest conquests. 

This set of 4 metal thonet style chairs were only 4 for $5. Yes that is right, $1.25 each. 

How I found them and rescued them from a back room at an animal shelter is an entirely different story. 

 I keep thinking about what color to paint them. I'll let you know what I decide. 

These are going to be gorgeous for patio dining, don't you think?

My second score is equally wonderful. 

I snagged these child sized wood folding chairs from a new antique store opening up 

in town.They sang to me the moment I saw them. Winston loves them too, 

and you know I love anything vintage. The patina on these is just beautiful. 

Unfortunately for my clients, both of these are staying at my house. 

I'm headed to look at a craigslist table tonight that would be a great compliment to my chairs.

the weekend's haul

Don't worry, I didn't forget to report on the antique fair. I headed up with two darling blog friends, Susan and Melissa,  and I met a client up there. There were lots of goodies to find there, but the real treasures were found at the thrift store we hit on the way home. 

Here are just a few of the lovelies that came home with me that day:

These lamps were purchased for $7.00 for the set. I don't think I can bear to part with them so they are staying at my house. They will be my homage to Christopher Spitzmiller.

I love vintage keys. I'm sure these will find a pretty home framed on a client's wall.

I snagged some pretty wooden trays and woven baskets for a client's home

My Kate Spade-ish cups and saucers. I love the crisp navy stripe. 

And my favorite item, a silver beehive sugar dish. Every time I stare at it, I smile.

Just call me Eddie

I bring home lots of treasures on a weekly basis. Between shopping for clients, and finding lots of serendipitious items for myself, there is no shortage of fun accessories floating through my household. But every once in a while, something comes home that I really fall in love with, and this little silver tray is one of them. 

I love it for two reasons, one because it reminds me of something Eddie Ross would find on one of his adventures (lots of which can be found in his etsy shop) and two because it is the perfect place to store my loose change and random bits. 

And it shines, oh how it shines. 

big plans

I'm in the process of moving out some old furniture to make room for the new. I spotted these dining chairs at a local consignment store and my heart went a flutter. Oh the possibilities.A set of 6. When I looked the price tag of $35 I was sold. Eventually I'll paint and reupholster these babies, but for now they're getting a good steam cleaning and a wipe down. 

I envision them evolving in to some thing glamorous but fun like the images below.

Old is new- vintage sofa

One of my best friends Missy came shopping with me on Saturday. She just bought a home and we've been working on furnishing it for the past few months. She has a very retro style and the furnishings in her house have all come from vintage and thrift stores. She lives with 3 other friends so we've deemed her house "The Bachelorette Pad". 

After the antique fair we went thrifting. We almost dropped dead when we walked in to a store and saw this sofa.  Immaculate. It's probably been covered in plastic for the past 30 years. 

Needless to say, she bought it on the spot for a sweet $19.00. 

Yes we were smiling all afternoon. 

Old is new-the antique fair

This Saturday was dreamy.  Gorgeous 60 degree fall weather. A Tartan plaid scarf. And a day of antiquing with one of my best friends.

I had never attended this antique fair before and I didn't know what to expect. 

I was delightfully surprised. I'll be sure to let you know when the next one rolls around in February. 

Look what I found!

$10 a piece. Thrifting doesn't get much better than this. 

Now for the decisions, Should I keep them for myself or 

use them for a client? Should I paint them or leave them?

Today I found the twin to the strange but interesting kitty seen in Ruthie Sommer's nursery for her daughter Eloise. I'm thinking maybe I should buy it and send it to her. I'm sure their little kitty would love some company. 

Second Hand Chic

I was visiting one of my favorite vintage shops yesterday and got chatting with Kelly, the owner. She is a sweetheart. In fact she is a such a sweetheart that she did a post about my business on her blog.

I went to the thrift store today channeling Eddie Ross.  He seemed to be with me there in spirit because I snagged some wonderful things. It was great, until I lost my keys and spent an hour searching the store only to find out they had some how made their way into the lining of my purse that I had already emptied out 15 times. Oh well, some times this happens. At least I have some beautiful new milk glass to make me feel better about it.

Found

I happen to think these ceramic birds from Found are darling. I love them even more because I have an identical pair sitting on my bookshelf. Every time I look at them they make me happy. 

Found is an awesome upcycled furniture store in San Francisco. They have some wonderful vintage finds and these girls share my love for bringing new life to old pieces. Next time I go to San Fran, I will go to their shop and look at all the pretty things, until then, I look at their blog.

Chic on a shoestring

Remember this little snippet of A's room I showed you a few weeks ago? Well here is the rest of her cheerful space. A is a 20 something free spirit who needed a high energy room to match her high energy personality. I loved working with her on this project because she is a risk taker. I kept doubting the yellow headboard but she was the one who kept pushing for it and I love how it turned out.

She already had the basics but needed new bedding, lighting, art and accessories. We pulled this whole room together for under $250. This meant scouring thrift stores and classifieds and getting creative.

Everytime I see this room, I think "CHEERFUL".
