Just call me Eddie

I bring home lots of treasures on a weekly basis. Between shopping for clients, and finding lots of serendipitious items for myself, there is no shortage of fun accessories floating through my household. But every once in a while, something comes home that I really fall in love with, and this little silver tray is one of them.

I love it for two reasons, one because it reminds me of something Eddie Ross would find on one of his adventures (lots of which can be found in his etsy shop) and two because it is the perfect place to store my loose change and random bits.

And it shines, oh how it shines.

nesting dolls and a funny story

When were dating my husband went to Europe with his friends for a few weeks. I was left home to wait for his calls, and it was torture. I made him promise to bring me back really good gifts.

While I was envisioning a something unique and beautiful, he was envisioning something else. He brought me home a Manchester United soccer jacket and a set of matroshkya dolls painted like snow white and the seven dwarves. Now that I write this I kind of, sort of can't believe I married him. I think I about died of laughter and disappointment when I opened those up.

I do however love nesting dolls, so I when I found these, I was a little excited. I can imagine all the lovely ways these could be used. I think I'll order a set to store all my office goodies in.

Oh and by the way my husband has gotten to be a better gift giver since then. 5 years of marriage and an opinionated wife will do that to you!

I still have those Snow white dolls in storage. Any takers? They're just too ugly to have sentimental value for me!

gift idea # 17 a pretty place to rest your treats

If I have learned one thing in life it is that you can never have too many cake stands.

I have a few of these and I use them all the time. They are pretty and perfect and white.

gift idea # 14 Bottoms up

I'm sitting tonight with a glass of oh-so-fattening-but-oh-so-good egg nog at my side so I thought it only fitting that I post a beautiful glass.

A set of these green lovelies would make me smile any day. They'd look beautiful with a bouquet of flowers blooming out of them as well.

gift idea # 12 A conversation piece

I think a unique vase is always a cool gift. I flipped for these driftwood vases when I saw them.

I love the organic concept. I bought two of these at Homegoods last week for $10 a pop.

Don't ask me how I find all these good deals, they just come to me.

gift idea # 3 Vintage Chalkboard

This vintage inspired chalkboard from PH Design Studio would be adorable for children or just a quirky place to leave notes. I added one of these to my son Winston's christmas list.

driftwood

I'm love the combining the rustic and sophisticated.
I think this bowl is a happy marriage of both

moss

It seems that moss is popping up everywhere, especially for the holidays.

I've always been a big fan and if I were decorating for Christmas this year, moss would be in abundant supply. If you're interested in adding your own mossy touch, check out this wreath tutorial from Martha or snatch up some moss accoutrements from this handy site

weekend

I saw Julie & Julia last week and I can't get the darling state handkerchiefs that Julie (Amy Adams) had hanging over her bed out of my mind. I haven't found a great source for them yet but of course you can hunt them down on eBay. I think these add such a charming detail. I'd love to find a way to incorporate them in to a project.

I've had a busy week with some projects wrapping up.

Stay tuned Monday for a fabulous room that is just awaiting some finishing touches.

stripes

I purchased this door mat today for a project I am working on. We are doing a front porch overhaul and this sets the tone. I love the long shape and the chic stripes.  I've always had this obsession with doormats. Hopefully someday I have a home with lots of entrances!

Found

I happen to think these ceramic birds from Found are darling. I love them even more because I have an identical pair sitting on my bookshelf. Every time I look at them they make me happy.

Found is an awesome upcycled furniture store in San Francisco. They have some wonderful vintage finds and these girls share my love for bringing new life to old pieces. Next time I go to San Fran, I will go to their shop and look at all the pretty things, until then, I look at their blog.

a little zig and a little zag

Revival Home and Garden (one of my favorite online spots) has these adorable Twinkle Living pillows which I have long been coveting on sale.

I don't think I can help snatching a pair up!

DIY

I am always on the hunt for a good DIY project (there are about six pieces of furniture in my garage waiting for a makeover) and these little side tables from Sunset Magazine are one of the most creative ideas I have come across for a while. One of my best friends had gorgeous tables like this in her home when we were growing up. Her mother had flawless taste and their tables were a beautiful antique version that housed small collectibles and pretty things.

I think I may have to add these to my project list! Click here for detailed instructions.

another thank you to ebay

I'm have a couple of rooms I am accessorizing right now and I love this large white ceramic clamshell. I love even more that I bought it's twin for a dollar at thrift store last week. I'm thinking she'll look just lovely atop a stack of books.

I'm thinking these would look snazzy over beside tables, maybe even painted a bright, fun color. Ebay is the best.

birds

These two look like they are having a very meaningful conversation. I wish they would come nest upon my mantel (if I had one) so I could be part of their little world.

vintage cool

I love buying vintage things because of the history they contain. I like to think of the life they lived before I owned them. These his and hers suitcases just might be one of my favorite finds.
I love the personal touch the monograms add.
