Baby Elliott and I are boarding a plane today to visit one of my dearest friends and a scour one of the biggest antique markets in the country for some fabulous finds. We're headed down to Houston for the Round Top antique market.
Excitement doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. Antique markets are one of my favorite things and visiting Round Top is one of the goals on my life list. I'm hoping to come back with lots of amazing finds to share with all of you.
Have any of you ever been to Round Top? Houston? Any advice or must see stops?

ReplyDeleteHi! I'm from Houston and I was just in Round Top this past weekend. If you want to find some cheaper deals, try Warrenton. It's a small town close to Round Top that also has miles of booths and vendors. You might have to search a little more, but it's worth it! Don't forget to try Tex-Mex or BBQ while your in Houston too. Lupe Tortilla or Goode Company would be my suggestions!
ReplyDeleteI agree, the whole experience is MILES long and I think Warrenton has the better deals and is a good place to focus. I prefer the vendors in the open field in that area. Good luck!

Was in Round Top last wknd - so fun, but be Sure to bring water bc it is HOT! Don't know what part of Houston you are staying in but there are some great places to check out in the Heights - Down House is a great new coffee shop/cafe/bar with awesome decor!

ReplyDeleteI never miss Round Top, except for this year b/c I had a baby two weeks ago. Bummed to miss it, but a worthy excuse! :) Definitely check out the fields in Warrenton. I'm also a fan of La Bahia, which is the first site you'll come to when turning off Hwy 290 from Houston - I always find good deals there. Marburger Farms is high end and you pay to get in, but it's got some great things to look at for inspiration. Definitely eat at Royers, though the cafe is open for dinner only generally, with a reservation. You can avoid the crowds (the place is TINY) by eating Royer's at Zapp Hall in the fields in Warrenton - get the Shrimp BLT sandwich!!! You won't be disappointed. Royer himself is usually at his other lunchtime location at the Big Red Barn, where you can get the shrimp blt in a wrap form. He's known for his pies - pick up a mini one at lunch or swing by the cafe for a bigger one to take home with you. Wear good walking shoes, bring water.

ReplyDeleteI live in Houston and go twice each year. Unfortunately, I can't make it this fall so will have to wait for Spring! Have fun, and yes, Warrenton is the way to go for great deals! I will be in Utah next month for Spark! Cool that you are coming here then I will be going there :) p.s. If you go to Warrenton stop by the Junk Gypsies booth, HGTV is filming them for a new show :)
