One of my clients has the most amazing dining table. The first time I saw it I think my jaw literally dropped. She bought it at a flea market in Nashville from a guy who makes furniture out of architectural and industrial salveage pieces. I only wish I had sourcing information to pass along.

ReplyDeleteI live in Nashville, and I know exactly which vendor you are talking about. He is incredible and I have never been to the flea market in Nashville, and him not been there. If you are ever in Middle Tennessee on a flea market weekend, it is definitely worth going. As far as the table, I fell in love with a metal table on the "Urban Grace" blog...it is from Blue Ocean Traders. It's called the Mercantile Table. It isn't just like this one, but it is similar. I got lucky and just happened to find one JUST LIKE IT at a store in my hometown. Funny to see your post today, because I just went and picked it up a few hours ago and I absolutely LOVE it. Hope that source helps...

ReplyDeleteThere is a furniture guy in LA who is constantly posting his industrial furniture on the Seattle Craigslist. He shops some pretty cool pieces for less than $1,000. I have not bought anything.

ReplyDeleteSo I thought I'd mention--I'm a Utah resident and was just at Pizzeria 712 today, in Provo. I noticed a great little table in their kitchen made of iron pipes and Ikea butcher block, and ended up leaving my contact info hoping to be contacted by the guy that made it. We'll see if he is interested in contracting out some work! I'd like it for a kitchen console or island I'm thinking. Cool to think something so neat could be made for very little...
