Decorating with Primary Colors

I'm working on a project right now that is inspired by the colors in the south of France.
I keep coming back to the basics of the primary colors red, yellow, and blue.
I love how versatile these colors can be depending on how you control their doses.

Lots of pretty examples below of how the primary colors can be used:
fresh and modern
Playful and fun from Lonny

serene and sophisticated
crisp and clean
cluttered perfection
Bright and cheerful from Lonny
cool and eclectic from Lonny
vintage cool, with an earthy vibe by Emily Henderson
bold and beautiful by Erinn Valencich (notice how the use of white balances all the pattern)

  1. Very pretty! I love the third picture, with all the artwork on the wall. I think kid's drawings are the best way to bring primary colors into a room!

  3. I just did my guest room in navy and raspberry, which was new for me--I'm usually a secondary and tertiary color kind of a gal. And I noticed in the end that the wood tone in there is YELLOW, so I guess I went all out!

You can see it here, should you be interested. http://loveyourspace.blogspot.com/2011/04/guest-room-after.html
