Should I buy them?

These chairs are lovely. They are vintage. They are iconic. They are white. They are hard to come by. There is a pair.

But...

They need reupholstery. They need a new coat of paint. They are $95 each. I have no clue where to put them.

But... I love them.

  1. YES! You will regret it if you don't! I made that mistake... there were four vintage bamboo chairs for $150 at my local Salvation Army. They were a terrible yellow color and the lines weren't as great as the ones you posted. I passed them up but regret it.

BTW, I'm a new regular to your blog, I love it! Feel free to check out mine if you ever get a chance :) brynalexandra.blogspot.com

  3. I love them! Do you think you could talk them down a bit?

They are great price already, but maybe if the deal was a little sweeter you would feel better about buying them with no where to put them.

  4. Yes, yes, yes!!! That is a decent price, but it wouldn't hurt to try to negotiate a little. The worst they can say is no, right? There are so many great, inexpensive fabrics out there, that you wouldn't have very spend much to make them truly fabulous. Those crates in the background are also pretty cool. I am such an enabler!

  5. Yes my friend. I am kicking myself for not buying a set of 4 faux bamboo armless chairs here off of Craigslist so again yes.

  6. What can I say...I love a good pair of Chinese Chippendales...these look to have A LOT of potential.
If you don't use them for yourself, you might need them at a later date for a client.
    Go for it!

  8. You must get your hands on those babies. They are fantastic and definitely negotiate on the price. If you can't find a place for them, you can send them to me. I've in the market for a pair of these for a while. I can't wait to see what you do with them. Also, stop by and check out the new City Escapes series, it starts today. I would love for you to be a part of it.

  9. They would be great painted red! If you think you will keep thinking about them in the future-get them! That is the worst when you can't forget about a vintage find that you passed up! Usually antique stores will negotiate a little if you ask! You have had some really great furniture finds lately!

  10. I am a new reader of your blog. I would see if they would take less for them. $100 is a lot for a chair you are going to have to put more money into. Just a thought. I love projects like that, but only when it doesn't break my bank.

  11. Yes! I think that price is totally reasonable. New reproductions retail for way way more, and those look to be in good condition. I seem to always find myself in this exact situation, because you always find great stuff when you aren't looking and don't need it. So I tell myself I can always sell it on craigslist if I change my mind later! Good luck, show us the finished product if you decide to get them.
