back to school

I am just wrapping up a whirlwind project and I am exhausted. About a month ago I got hired to help with an update of a local sorority house. I think decorating a sorority house is probably up there on the list of dream projects. It was such a great learning experience but I am spent. I'm waiting on a couple of things but I'll probably get pictures up later this week. I was really struggling with the project a couple weeks ago but I am so happy with how everything came together in the end and I think the spaces really capture the young/fresh/fun style I was going for.

Here are a few images that inspired me on this project.

You didn't think I would spend thousands on a mirror did you?

I got a few emails asking about the lovely mirror featured in my latest project. It really is a beauty isn't it?

You may recognize this mirror from Josie Maran's apartment when it was featured on the cover of Domino last year. Her mirror is from Woodson and Rummerfield and costs a pretty penny.
My mirror, is an unbelievable knock-off you can find here that cost a fraction of the price. We had it painted a creamy white, and voila!

It might just be my favorite thing in the room.

The ladies lounge

Without further adieu I present to you my latest {almost finished} project. We are still waiting on some pieces for this room including art and more accessories but I couldn't wait any longer to share it with you. I mentioned a while back that the inspiration for this room was Kate Spade meets Holly Golightly. In a perfect world I would have wallpapered this room {in something graphic or bold stripes} and added a chandelier but this room needs to serve a lot of practical purposes so those splurges didn't really fit.

I wish you knew my client because I feel like this room is her personified right down to every detail.  This room was formerly her oldest daughters bedroom but she wanted to convert it to a lounge/ den area. The catch was it still needed to accommodate guests or her daughter if she chose to come home for the night, which is why we opted to include a trundle day bed.

I'll be sure to post more pictures when we are 100% finished but I was so excited about this project I couldn't wait for another month until we get things done.

Remember the snakeskin coffee table I was telling you about? Isn't it sexy?

In my shoes

Yesterday sweet Camila over at High-heeled foot in the door included me in her series In Her Shoes.

I was delighted to take part and share the details of my busy day with her and all of you.

Thanks for the mention Camila!

weekend

I saw Julie & Julia last week and I can't get the darling state handkerchiefs that Julie (Amy Adams) had hanging over her bed out of my mind. I haven't found a great source for them yet but of course you can hunt them down on eBay. I think these add such a charming detail. I'd love to find a way to incorporate them in to a project.

I've had a busy week with some projects wrapping up.

Stay tuned Monday for a fabulous room that is just awaiting some finishing touches.

kiwi couch

Remember how we all loved Jenna Lyons {Creative Director @ J. Crew} home when it was featured in Domino? Well Brown Button has posted images from a another shoot in Living Etc.
This image above with the kiwi couch jumped out at me, it looked so familiar and then I remembered I spotted this twin on overstock a few days ago.  Interestingly enough, the sofa looked yellow in the original shoot in Domino, but in the Living Etc shoot it looks more kiwi colored. I'm wondering which is the real color.

I am loving the lines on the sofa. I think I could live with kiwi!

lamps

I had a couple readers email me asking about the lamps in my bedroom after the feature over at My little happy place

These lamps are from none other than Homegoods, as is my zig zag throw. What can I say, it is the best go to for stylish affordable finds. I got the lamps ages ago but I Suwannee just blogged about them today so it looks like some locations may still have them in stock. Happy Shopping!

illumination

If I had $400 laying around and burning a hole in my pocket {maybe someday} I might be so inclined to buy these lovely lamps from the ladies of one of my favorite design blogs, Good Bones Great Pieces.

I just discovered they had an etsy shop and I'm hoping it will be updated soon with more pretty things.

colors

There is something about this screen print that I just can't get out of my mind.

simple

This room is so Jonathan Adler in black and white.

I 'm loving the simplicity of the bedding with the bold geometric.

another reason to love nailhead

I just bought a pair of these darling ottomans for a client. They arrived the other day and they are even better looking in person {and better quality than I expected too}. My client and I died when we saw what a fabulous price they were. I think these are the bargain of the week, I just wish they came in other colors.

houndstooth

I figured since I did a post about tweed I couldn't leave houndstooth out in the cold.

I am wanting a client who wants these chairs. Such a deal. I think Kelly would approve if you paired them with bright accents. Maybe yellow.

And just in case you wanted more, some other beautiful representations of houndstooth to drool over.

detour

Just to divert a little a bit from decor. I am absolutely jealous of these wedding photos by Jill Thomas at the Salt Flats on the Great Salt Lake.

I found these via Junebug Loves and if you are love like I am, you can see more here

tweed

Fall is approaching which reminds me that it is my favorite season.

After spotting these herringbone tweed pillows at Target last night, I am even more excited.

I am working on a bedroom that is dying for some tweed. We were going to have some custom herringbone pillows made, but I may just pick up a few of the Target version instead.

Second Hand Chic

I was visiting one of my favorite vintage shops yesterday and got chatting with Kelly, the owner. She is a sweetheart. In fact she is a such a sweetheart that she did a post about my business on her blog

If you are in the Salt Lake area you should stop by Second Hand Chic, they have amazing items and wonderful prices!

Thanks Kelly!

pretty plates

If I wasn't trying to save my money, I would buy these beautiful Kate Spade plates from One Kings Lane. If you are not already a member and want an invite, leave a comment and I'll get you on the list.

just for a day

Just for a day I'd like to be Erin Lauder. Beautiful homes, beautiful clothes, endless makeup.
I think it would be a good day.

And this photo of her is making me itching to do a room with navy and coral {and other shades of blue}. Such a pretty combo.

I bought this map of the New York City area at The Garage flea market last fall.

I forgot I had it until I was cleaning out a basket the other day. I just love the little details and hunting for places I used to frequent on the map.

Isn't the color palette great?

I like stripes

I got a sample of this fabric last week for a great room I am redoing. Initially I grabbed it as a back up but the more I look at it, the more I love it's texture, color, and versatility.

you can some really cheap here

thrifted

These little plates were a recent thrift store treasure. Set of 8.

I love the detailing on the pattern and the pretty blue color.

sneaky

Here is a little peek at a room that is almost finished.

I promise I will share pictures of the coffee table soon. We're hoping to have all the details pulled together for this project by next week.
