pink

I think under the right circumstances I could learn to love a pink zebra rug

Too bad the hubby says no.

eco chic

Some times Pier one sings my tune, sometimes they don't. But often I find at least on or two things there that I LOVE!

This wood collage mirror may or may not fit in to that category, I'll have to see it in person.

Are you curious?

Christina {stylish and creative mom of 5} over at full house is featuring a complete breakdown of exactly how we decorated A's room on $250.

Her blog has been a favorite since I discovered it a few months ago. We share a love of good deals and thrift store treasures.

Thanks Christina for the wonderful feature!

a good deal

These little monogrammable pillows from Pottery Barn are such a good price for a personalizes item. Your bed is begging you to buy one so the other pillows can have some company. They come in a gazillion colors.

I think I might have to order one for Winston's room.

do a little dance

This penant rug from hable construction makes me want to skip and sing and go read nursery rhymes.  I love the color inspiration. This is what I want the rest of my afternoon to look like. Good bye!

Divine Chairs

Have you heard of The Divine Chair Company

I bet they have a blast picking out all of their fabrics!

the look for less-inlaid mother of pearl

I've been spotting lots of gorgeous pieces lately with inlaid mother of pearl.

I love the timeless and bohemian look of these pieces, but their price tags usually leave me running the other direction.

The other day when watching HGTV I was reminded of an awesome project that Kim Myles of Myles of Style did when she was a contestant on design star. She used tiny sticker labels to block out a design on simple white coffee table and then painted over it. Once the labels were removed it gave the effect of an inlaid piece.

SO genius. My mind is spinning, too many ideas, gotta go!

kelly green = love

Many of you emailed me asking about the bedding I used in my yellow and green room. The shams were actually part of a duvet set I purchased from home goods / T.J. Maxx. I was there this morning and my local store had a bunch in a couple of different colors. The whole set was only 19.99. If you love Kelly Wearstler like I do go pick one up and get creative with the wonderful fabric.

You will die when you see what I did with the rest of the fabric. Just you wait!

addition

After I finish a project, I immediately start to think about what I would have done differently. It is a bad habit. If we hadn't been on such a budget, this darling chandelier would have been a fabulous addition to my green and yellow room.

I'm always surprised to find charming things like this at PB Teen

in a city near you- New York

I stumbled on this dining set and I am so in love with the bright yellow on these chairs!

Some New Yorker, please buy these and send me a pretty picture!

And the winner is...

I know you all are dying over my Celerie Kemble book. Well, Winston randomly picked a number of out a bowl and it was number 27 which means the winner is LindsB from everything LEB! Congratulations! Email me your details so I can send this off to you!

crappy picture

This is a terrible picture from my blackberry of a beautiful piece of furniture that got delivered this weekend for a project I am working on. I so love it! It is vintage and has the wonderful smell of old wood.

obsession

This trunk is my current obsession. I have nowhere to put it, nowhere to store it, but I still want to buy it.

I think I have a furniture addiction. Please help.

I wont be posting this weekend because tomorrow is my son's first birthday party. I have lots of details to pull together in the next 24 hours. Wish me luck! The theme is Where the wild things are. If you met my son you would understand, he is one and he is wild!

I've got some great things to share next week so stay tuned!

SO sweet

Paloma over at La Dolce Vita was so kind to feature my yellow and green room for A in her fabulous room Fridays series.

She was one of my first blogging friends and still a favorite. Her blog has such a great viewpoint and she showcases so many wonderful bloggers. designers, and boutiques.

Thanks Sweetheart!

Do you love Dwell studio? Do you love these place mats? Do you love cute pillows?

Consider this idea then.

Happy chic home

Maybe it's that I just got a box of goodies this week for a room I'm working on and that they have the best customer service, or maybe it's that I love his style, or maybe it's that I just scored some desk accessories at target that are totally happy chic, but I cannot get enough of Jonathan Adler these days.

I love love love his 10 commandments.

treasure

I went to the thrift store today channeling Eddie Ross.  He seemed to be with me there in spirit because I snagged some wonderful things. It was great, until I lost my keys and spent an hour searching the store only to find out they had some how made their way into the lining of my purse that I had already emptied out 15 times. Oh well, some times this happens. At least I have some beautiful new milk glass to make me feel better about it.

stripes

I purchased this door mat today for a project I am working on. We are doing a front porch overhaul and this sets the tone. I love the long shape and the chic stripes.  I've always had this obsession with doormats. Hopefully someday I have a home with lots of entrances!

black and white

I love the bold graphic pattern of this Dhurrie rug. It would be great for an entry way or a bathroom to bring a little interest and contrast.

Found

I happen to think these ceramic birds from Found are darling. I love them even more because I have an identical pair sitting on my bookshelf. Every time I look at them they make me happy.

Found is an awesome upcycled furniture store in San Francisco. They have some wonderful vintage finds and these girls share my love for bringing new life to old pieces. Next time I go to San Fran, I will go to their shop and look at all the pretty things, until then, I look at their blog.

Giveaway!

Because I'm so excited about all the happenings around here, I want to share the love!

I'm giving one reader a copy of Celerie Kembles's wonderful book To your Taste

She is one of my favorite designers, and if you are not familiar with her, you are missing out!

Leave a comment by midnight July 24th (one week from today) and I will randomly pick a winner!

Good Luck!

The lounge

This inspiration board is for a room I've been working on. It is all starting to come together and I am so excited to see the finished product. The client is basically converting a very large bedroom into a den/lounge area, but the catch is it needs to accommodate overnight guests, hence the daybed with trundle.

My inspiration was Holly Golightly meets Kate Spade.

In a city near you- Boston

This vintage vanity stool is so sleek! I love the lines on it.

And only $40! I'm dizzy!

yes I feel like Dorothy

We ventured up to my family's cabin in the Uintah mountains last week and this field of poppies was just down the lane. I think I need to frame this asap. I love the orange!

Chic on a shoestring

Remember this little snippet of A's room I showed you a few weeks ago? Well here is the rest of her cheerful space. A is a 20 something free spirit who needed a high energy room to match her high energy personality. I loved working with her on this project because she is a risk taker. I kept doubting the yellow headboard but she was the one who kept pushing for it and I love how it turned out.
She already had the basics but needed new bedding, lighting, art and accessories. We pulled this whole room together for under $250. This meant scouring thrift stores and classifieds and getting creative.

Everytime I see this room, I think "CHEERFUL".

I have never in all my life seen custom cabinetry that I love as much as this

This is from a project by Ryan Brown of Brown Design, one of the stars of Bravo's Flipping Out

The new season starts August 17th! I cannot wait!

I am loving the color palette inspired by this collection of Marimekko coin purses via Plastica. I used to live right around the corner from the Marimekko store in NY and I would pop in often for a dose bold patterns and bright color. right now I wish I could stop on over and nab one of these little coin purses to keep my change organized.

a little zig and a little zag

Revival Home and Garden (one of my favorite online spots) has these adorable Twinkle Living pillows which I have long been coveting on sale.

I don't think I can help snatching a pair up!
